Head Of Activities

Salary: £29,742 per annum
Permanent 40 hours per week - 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday with alternate weekends
We are looking for a Head of Activities to join our team at Richmond Village Willaston our Specialist Dementia Village. You will be responsible for managing the activities team organising and overseeing a varied and appropriate programme of activities showing consideration for the needs, wishes and desires of the individual residents.
Responsibilities
Identify resident activity needs and wishes through assessment, observation and discussion and liaise with residents, relatives, friends of residents and staff, to ensure full knowledge of the residents' likes, dislikes, interests, abilities and difficulties.
Explore the most appropriate methods and resources for meeting activity needs, including group events and individual sessions.
Manage the Activities Team including supervisions and appraisals as well as overseeing and contributing to activities across the whole Village, including the Care Home and those residents living with dementia.
Organise outings as appropriate, giving consideration to safety needs and staffing requirements.
Organise and participate in fund raising events as required.
Advertise and promote the planned programme in a manner which encourages involvement of all residents, relatives and staff.
Maintain written records of resident assessments, resident participation and activity evaluations in line with guidance provided.
Produce a weekly programme and a monthly newsletter to communicate with residents.
Regularly update the Richmond Website to promote activities and help to promote the Village and it's activities on social media
Maintain excellent health and safety standards at all times and ensure all activities are risk assessed.
Manage the activities budget and maintain financial records as required. Source and purchase required resources for activities following correct procedures and within budget.
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role
It's essential you have a full, clean UK driving licence along with experience of managing a team and working within a care home setting with elderly and/or vulnerable individuals. Experience of supporting people living with dementia is highly desirable. You will have experience of organising events and arranging activities and must have a positive attitude, with the ability to motivate residents using your energy and great sense of humour. Empathetic and friendly in your approach, you'll have no problem building long lasting professional relationships with colleagues, residents, their families and members of the local community.
