The Physiotherapist will work asan experienced, specialist member of the Enablement Therapy team.

Clinically responsible for thedelivery and coordination of bespoke Physiotherapy intervention to providetimely Holistic, palliative care assessments across the inpatient, day Therapyand outpatient services for the Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice workingjointly on therapeutic goals and interventions with the Enablement OccupationalTherapists and Senior Therapy Assistant.

They will participate in theon-going development of these services, alongside active participation in theprovision of education and clinical supervision of staff and students.

Support and Clinical Supervisionwill be provided by the Enablement Team therapy lead.


Main duties of the job

Within the team, be responsible for a defined caseload, providing effective Physiotherapy interventions to people experiencing difficulties with physical, functional performance related to their terminal illness. Together with the Occupational Therapists assessing patient's needs, agree goals, implement intervention plans and evaluate progress.

To participate in the operational management and clinical leadership of the Enablement Therapy Service in conjunction with the Enablement team and Clinical Lead Therapist.

To provide supportive and sensitive communication, written and verbal advice to clients, carers and staff, whilst demonstrating an understanding of the nature and effects of some information and of barriers to effective communication, eg, sensory problems

To be responsible for own administration task, including prompt and accurate completion of clinical statistical records to CSP, HCPC, organisation and departmental guidelines.

To adhere to the standards, policies and procedures of the Trust and Department and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists, Health Care Professions Council: Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and associated legislation, eg Health and Safety at Work Act, Information Governance.

To undertake and delegate appropriately, any other suitable and additional duties as required by the needs of the service.

Person Specification


Knowledge

* Knowledge of palliative and end of life care.
* Knowledge/experience of respiratory conditions
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD)
* Knowledge/experience of neurological conditions
* Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Safeguarding Adult


Qualifications

* Physiotherapy Degree or equivalent
* Current HCPC registration
* Current CSP registration
* Advanced Communication skills training


Skills / Abilities

* Able to assess, plan and implement interventions effectively
* Able to evaluate and adapt interventions appropriately
* Able to prioritise own workload/time and support others
* Able to work under pressure
* Excellent communication skills; written and verbal
* Able to be sensitive and empathetic
* Able to work as part of an MDT
* Experience of research/audit and outcome measures.


Experience

* Varied post-graduate clinical experience
* Experience of working with patients with palliative care needs
* Multidisciplinary team working
* Experience of SystmOne clinical records system
* Experience of patient group work
* Experience of supervising students. Attendance on clinical educator course
