The job itself
A compassionate and understanding Personal Assistant is required to support a young individual who enjoys being active, social and involved in a variety of community‑based activities during school holidays. This person has a great sense of humour, enjoys spending time with others, and thrives when supported by someone who is happy to join in with engaging, hands‑on activities.
The individual communicates in non‑verbal ways, responds well to clear guidance, and uses familiar cues to express needs or preferences. They understand instructions, although they may not always follow them, and sometimes use specific words to communicate frustration. They require close supervision at all times due to limited awareness of danger and have some personal care needs that the Personal Assistant will be expected to support with.
They enjoy a wide range of activities, including water‑based play, baking, painting, crafting and shopping. The ideal candidate will be someone who is confident taking part in these activities and able to provide social support in a positive and encouraging manner.
