Assistant Head Teacher – Teaching & Learning
Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire
Salary: Fringe Leadership Scale £57,137 – £63,070 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2026 or earlier by agreement
Responsibilities
As Assistant Head Teacher – Teaching & Learning, you will work closely with the leadership team to promote high-quality classroom practice, support curriculum innovation, and help shape the strategic direction of the academy. You will also play an active role in mentoring and developing staff, ensuring that all pupils benefit from engaging and effective teaching.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status and demonstrate consistently strong classroom practice.
- Be an enthusiastic and motivated leader with the ability to inspire colleagues and pupils alike.
- Have a secure understanding of outstanding teaching and learning across the primary or secondary phase.
- Be confident in coaching, supporting, and challenging staff to achieve excellence.
- Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and raising pupil attainment.
- Contribute positively to the wider ethos, values, and community of the school.
- Be responsible for safeguarding duties and be subject to enhanced clearance through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
- Employment will be subject to references and the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
