About the Role This Mechanical Engineer role at Diageo is an exciting opportunity and the successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and continuous improvement of mechanical assets across the site. The role holder will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of maintenance activities, problem-solving and asset availability while working closely with Operations, CAPEX teams, Maintenance Planners and craft groups to maximise equipment performance. Key responsibilities include using the SAP-PM system to raise, update and record maintenance tasks in line with weekly asset care plans; supporting compliance with plant KPIs and wider business targets; responding rapidly to breakdowns to diagnose and resolve issues; and ensuring all spare parts usage and stock movements are captured accurately. The Mechanical Engineer will support engineering workstreams focused on improving reliability, efficiency and cost performance, attend and represent Asset Care at critical tier meetings, and contribute to Manufacturing Excellence (TRACC) activities. They will also support continuous improvement initiatives, ensure compliance with regulatory maintenance standards, train colleagues where required and uphold the highest standards of Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality performance. About You The ideal candidate will be a time-served mechanical engineer with strong technical capability, excellent analytical skills and experience working in a fast-paced maintenance or manufacturing environment. They will hold an HNC-level engineering qualification (or equivalent experience) and demonstrate a strong understanding of reliability maintenance techniques, data analysis and the use of systems such as SAP, Excel and other business applications. They will bring exceptional organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail and the ability to prioritise their own workload while supporting others. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the role requires regular engagement with Operations, Maintenance Planning and cross-functional teams to ensure robust planned maintenance, contribute to root cause problem solving and support continuous improvement.
