As part of our continued growth, we’re looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team, based in the Wrexham / Chester area.
The role
You’ll take commercial responsibility for a portfolio of projects from contract award through to final account, covering:
* Refurbishment and maintenance schemes
* New build projects
* A variety of procurement routes, including traditional, design & build, and plan-and-spec contracts
You’ll be a key member of the delivery team, working closely with Contracts Managers, Site Managers, supply chain partners and clients.
Key responsibilities
* Measure, price and evaluate tenders
* Survey properties on both void and occupied contracts
* Set and monitor financial targets for direct labour, ensuring planned margins are achieved
* Manage project costs, cashflow and forecasting
* Prepare CVRs, monthly cost reports and profit forecasts
* Report commercial progress and risks to senior management
* Administer and manage sub-contractor accounts, from procurement through to final account
* Produce and submit interim applications for payment
* Agree final accounts and complete client documentation to secure timely approvals
About you
* Professionally qualified in Quantity Surveying (BSc, Diploma or equivalent)
* Strong commercial experience in refurbishment, maintenance and/or new build
* Confidently controlling day-to-day project expenditure with robust cost management, monitoring and reporting
* Able to:
* Reconcile costs and value, and produce clear monthly reports
* Carry out site measurement and prepare monthly applications/invoices
* Price variations and new works from first principles
* Analyse subcontractor quotations and prepare draft subcontract agreements
* Comfortable working closely with clients and representing the business in a professional manner
* IT literate (Excel, Word, Outlook as a minimum)
* Experience in administering both JCT & NEC contracts
* Able to work under pressure, manage deadlines and juggle multiple projects
* Demonstrable track record of successful project delivery
* Experience with framework projects (desirable)
* Full UK driving licence
