Join our team as an Apprentice HGV Technician at Volvo Trucks. The Thetford site is located at 34 Howlett Way, Thetford IP24 1HZ. Apprenticeships start in 2026 for HGV Technicians. This program combines classroom learning with on-the-job training.

Apprenticeship Summary
* Working week: Monday to Friday = 40 hrs
* Expected apprenticeship duration: 32 months
* Possible start dates: May & August 2026
* Apprenticeship level: Advanced Level Apprenticeship
What You'll Do
* Assist with repairs carried out in accordance with Volvo Standard Times using Volvo Special Tools where appropriate
* Assist in the fault diagnosis process
* Learn and comply with warranty procedures during repairs and with warranty material on completion
* Assist with parts to ensure correct replacement parts are fitted
* Learn to use Volvo special tools safely and efficiently
* Assist with cleaning the workshop
* Ensure time recording procedures are followed and that job cards are completed accurately
* Report vehicle defects to the workshop Supervisor
* Wear PPE when required
* Attend college courses regularly and achieve required standards
* Attend technical or development training as available
On starting, you will be provided with full equipment and will work with qualified Technicians to learn how to repair, service, MOT and maintain modern trucks, buses and coaches, including hybrid technology.
What We Are Looking For
* Enthusiastic individuals with a strong interest in heavy vehicles
* Basic understanding of mechanical systems and a desire to learn
* Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail
* Strong communication skills and a team player mentality
* Desired qualifications: GCSE A* to C/Grade 4 in Math and English
Training To Be Provided
Training is delivered in the workplace and on block release at Remit’s Heavy Vehicle Academy in Derby. There are a total of 18 blocks over the 32-month programme, split between virtual classes and days in Derby. Costs for accommodation, food and travel are met by the employer. You will also be assigned a Development Coach who will provide 1-2-1 support and guide you to IMI qualifications: Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3.
