As a Maintenance Operative – Plumber, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality plumbing maintenance, repairs, and installations across our buildings and facilities. From planned preventative maintenance to emergency fault-finding, your work will ensure the safety, functionality, andfort of our spaces for staff, students, and visitors.You’ll work closely with supervisors, contractors, and building users, using your technical expertise to diagnose issues, carry out repairs, and support themissioning of new systems. This is a hands-on role requiring a proactive approach, strong problem-solving skills, and amitment to health and safety.Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out planned and reactive plumbing maintenance, including servicing, fault diagnosis, and repairs.
2. Install and refurbish plumbing systems, sanitary ware, pipework, valves, and heatingponents.
3. Conduct inspections, testing, and surveys to ensurepliance with Water Regulations and safety standards.
4. Use CAFM systems to manage workload and report progress.
5. Liaise with building users and contractors to coordinate access and supportmissioning.
6. Mentor apprentices and support other trades when required.
7. Ensure all workplies with health and safety legislation and internal procedures.
What We’re Looking ForEssential:
8. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Plumbing.
9. City & Guilds 3345 – Water Regulations & Unvented Hot Water Systems.
10. Proven experience in plumbing maintenance and fault diagnosis.
11. Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
12. Full UK Driving Licence.
13. Willingness to participate in out-of-hours/on-call rota.
Desirable:
14. Experience using CAFM systems.
15. Customer service experience in a maintenance environment.
