Contract type: Full Time (37.5 hours) – Fixed Term (07/08/2026)

Location: Liverpool John Moores University International Study Centre.

Salary: £24,960 per annum

The Progression & Engagement Officer’s role is to support students’ progression needs both face-to-face and online. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of tutorial sessions, 1-1 support and guidance, establishing a programme of activities to help students develop skills and confidence outside the classroom in preparation for their transition to HE. This will require excellent people skills and a good level of administrative ability.


ABOUT THE ROLE

* Act as a personal tutor to deliver academic success tutorials.
* Provide 1:1 personal development, academic, and progression counselling to students.
* Collaborate within the network to design and create learning materials around study skills, welfare topics, and employability for Academic Success tutorials.
* Update and maintain the virtual learning environment and embed digital learning technologies into delivery.
* Implement interventions related to attendance in a timely manner, in accordance with the Attendance Policy, and ensure accurate recording.
* Track student performance, liaise with the academic team to identify intervention strategies, and maintain performance and progression records.
* Monitor, track, and report on student destination offers; refer students to the Extended Progression Team for alternative options if they do not meet progression requirements.
* Analyze VLE analytics and student work completion data to identify gaps and necessary actions.
* Support students’ mental and physical health, liaising with the Student Wellbeing Team when concerns arise.
* Keep student records up to date and accurate.
* Assist in organizing and delivering wellbeing, enrichment, and transition events.
* Ensure smooth operation of reception and student-facing environments, handling queries face-to-face, via VLE, email, and phone, and gathering information from other departments.
* Work within a team to organize registration, arrivals, induction, activities, and events, providing support to team members.
* Ensure timely communication and reporting to external stakeholders, including parents, sponsors, guardians, agents, and partner universities.
* Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including university departments like Student Support and Admissions.
* Engage with Study Group marketing and agent visits, including presentations and marketing materials contributions.
* Provide resources and support to other teams as needed.
* Offer general administrative support and cover duties during staff absences and peak periods.
* Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by the Senior Leadership Team.


ABOUT YOU

* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience demonstrating ability to work and think independently.
* Experience supporting students in an educational context.
* Experience organizing trips and visits, including risk assessments.
* Experience creating engaging content and delivering workshops or similar activities.
* Experience working collaboratively with external partners.
* Experience facilitating the ‘student voice’ and using feedback mechanisms effectively.
* Experience working in a regulated environment.
* Experience in customer service.
