Description
Oxford Ag is a respected leader in rural contracting, known for delivering reliable, high-quality service across the Waimakariri District. We're looking for a skilled and dependable Field Operations Specialist—someone with strong agricultural contracting knowledge, leadership experience, and a practical mindset to support our day-to-day operations and keep our teams running smoothly.
About the Role: This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that ensures our field operations stay on track—especially during seasonal peaks, absences, or unexpected changes. You’ll be working closely with Team Leaders, the Operations Dispatch Manager, and the Fleet/Workshop Manager to provide real-time, on-the-ground support. You need to thrive in the field and lead by example, being comfortable getting involved in operational tasks while ensuring high standards and machinery efficiency. While this isn’t a desk job, familiarity with computer systems and technology (such as JobFlow or QuipCheck) is beneficial.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide operational backup across teams to ensure daily continuity and support
* Assist with job execution, coordination, and equipment readiness
* Support frontline leaders during busy periods or absences
* Build strong relationships with clients and internal teams through clear communication
* Monitor service quality, safety, and workflow efficiency
* Contribute to continuous improvement and seasonal planning
* Train, guide, and support field staff as needed
What We’re Looking For:
* 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role in agriculture or rural contracting
* Experience operating a wide range of agricultural machinery
* Sound understanding of all functions of agricultural contracting
* Full NZ Driver’s Licence with Wheels, Tracks, and Rollers endorsements
* Strong weather awareness and operational judgment
* Excellent communication and organizational skills
* High initiative, flexibility, and resilience
Desirable (but not essential):
* Class 5 licence
Why Join Oxford Ag?
* Be part of a trusted, values-driven team committed to excellence
* Located in North Canterbury’s most beautiful village, Oxford, the business is family-owned and well-established
* Work in a role with variety, autonomy, and real impact
* Use your skills practically—on the land and with people
* Enjoy a strong team culture focused on safety, support, and development
