Financial Divisions are delighted to be partnering with a highly respected and ambitious boutique wealth management firm in the appointment of a Director of Financial Advice.
This is a significant leadership opportunity for an experienced Financial Planning professional who combines commercial acumen with a genuine passion for developing people, improving performance and driving business growth.
The successful individual will play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of the advice division, leading adviser development, strengthening operational standards and helping to deliver the firm's ambitious growth plans. Working closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team, you will be entrusted with substantial influence and autonomy to build, develop and inspire a high-performing advisory function.
This position would particularly suit an experienced Advice Manager, Head of Advice, Sales Director or Senior Financial Planner with proven leadership experience gained within an Independent Financial Advice or Wealth Management environment.
The Role
As Director of Financial Advice, you will assume responsibility for the performance, development and strategic direction of the firm's adviser population.
You will oversee adviser recruitment, onboarding, coaching and performance management whilst ensuring the highest standards of client service, professionalism and regulatory compliance are consistently maintained.
This role requires an individual who can balance strategic leadership with hands-on involvement, creating an environment where advisers are supported, challenged and empowered to achieve exceptional results.
You will be instrumental in building a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and professional excellence whilst contributing directly to the wider commercial success of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Adviser Development
• Lead, mentor and develop Financial Planners and Advisers across the business
• Create and implement structured development programmes to enhance adviser capability and performance
• Conduct regular coaching, performance reviews and personal development planning
• Foster a positive, collaborative and high-performing culture
• Act as a trusted leader and role model throughout the organisation
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
• Identify, attract and recruit high-calibre Financial Advisers aligned with the firm's culture and values
• Develop and manage an effective onboarding programme that supports early success
• Build a sustainable talent pipeline to support future business growth
Performance Management
• Establish and monitor meaningful KPIs aligned with business objectives
• Analyse adviser performance and implement strategies to improve productivity and client outcomes
• Drive accountability whilst providing the support and resources advisers require to succeed
• Ensure business targets are achieved through effective leadership and performance management
Strategic Growth & Business Development
• Support the development and execution of the firm's growth strategy
• Identify opportunities to improve adviser productivity, client acquisition and revenue generation
• Work closely with senior stakeholders to drive commercial success and long-term business objectives
• Contribute to strategic decision-making and organisational planning
Regulatory & Professional Standards
• Promote a strong culture of compliance and client-centric advice
• Ensure advisers operate within FCA regulations and internal governance frameworks
• Maintain high standards of suitability, professionalism and client service
• Support the ongoing development of best practice across the advice function
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a confident and credible leader with extensive experience within Financial Planning, Wealth Management or Independent Financial Advice.
You will possess a strong understanding of the adviser journey and demonstrate a proven ability to motivate, develop and manage successful advisory teams.
Essential Requirements
• Previous management or leadership experience within a Financial Planning, Wealth Management or Independent Financial Advice firm
• Proven track record of developing and managing adviser performance
• Strong understanding of Financial Planning, Wealth Management and FCA regulatory requirements
• Excellent communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills
• Commercially minded with the ability to contribute to strategic business growth
• Ability to lead with credibility, professionalism and integrity
Desirable Qualifications
• Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (Level 4) or equivalent professional qualification
• Chartered Financial Planner status or working towards Chartered status would be advantageous
• Experience leading adviser recruitment and onboarding programmes
