M&S Store Detective – 45 hours per week, 5 days a week including weekends. All travel paid. Public transport and/or car mileage reimbursed.
Location: M&S Cardiff, Newport, Merthyr, Llanelli, Bridgend.
Pay: £15.91 per hour.
Candidate must have 5 years trackable working history in the UK and a valid SIA front line licence.
Job Overview
Our client is the UK's premier high street retailer. As a Store Detective, you will operate across their network of stores and use observation skills to help prevent theft of stock. The Detective team plays a crucial role in identifying, apprehending and prosecuting criminals who target the retailer.
Main Duties
* Observe, deter and arrest those taking part in criminal activity in line with the Theft Act.
* Follow the ASCONE process.
* Work with CCTV operators to identify and stop offenders.
* Liaise with police forces and crime prevention partners to stay up to date with crime trends.
* Build a local network to identify and disrupt crime.
* Report incidents accurately and promptly.
* Occasionally attend court to provide evidence.
What We Are Looking For

* Strong customer service background.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; GCSE or equivalent in English preferred.
* Proactive, forward‑thinking approach and a desire to improve existing practices.
* Strong self‑motivation, a can‑do attitude and a drive to learn.
* Positive, outgoing personality, eager to be part of a strong team.
* Essential: SIA licence. Store detective experience highly desirable.
* Exceptional observational skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations & make quick decisions.
* Confidence to challenge people when necessary.
