Our client is a growing environmental company providing essential waste management and recycling services across the UK. They are looking to appoint a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to support the smooth and efficient running of their busy processing site in Rochester.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practical and proactive engineer who enjoys fault finding, preventative maintenance and improving equipment reliability in a fast-paced operational environment.
Working as part of the engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining a range of plant and machinery, ensuring downtime is minimised and all equipment operates safely and efficiently.
💥 As a Maintenance Engineer, you will:
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance across site equipment and machinery
* Respond to breakdowns and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults
* Repair and maintain conveyors, compactors, shredders and associated plant equipment
* Complete maintenance records accurately using internal systems
* Assist with stock control of spare parts and consumables
* Support shutdowns, equipment installations and improvement projects
* Work closely with operations teams to minimise disruption to production
* Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in line with health and safety standards
💥 What we’re looking for:
* Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer in an industrial, manufacturing, recycling or waste management environment
* Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical and electrical systems
* Experience with conveyors, motors, pumps, hydraulics and pneumatic systems
* Engineering qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent
* Good understanding of health and safety procedures
* Ability to work independently and prioritise workloads effectively
* Forklift or mobile plant experience would be advantageous
