Applications are warmly invited from motivated, registered nurses with a particular interest in advancing clinical and leadership skills in the Cancer Nurse Specialist field.

The post holder will work in partnership with others to facilitate multidisciplinary working across professional boundaries in health and social care settings by providing a person-centred, nurse-led service. Responsibilities include investigation, diagnosis, treatment, supporting anticipatory care planning, and bereavement support as appropriate.

Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential. The candidate should have five years post-registration experience, with at least two years in a relevant setting. Experience caring for people with complex needs will be advantageous.

Willingness to undertake relevant clinical and academic training is essential. Professional development is encouraged and supported.

Applicants will be asked to give a 10-minute presentation on ‘The Role of the Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist’.

For informal enquiries, please contact Claire Irvine, Lung Cancer CNS, Borders Macmillan Centre at 01896 826888.

Salary: The quoted salary is for full-time hours (37 hrs per week). Part-time salary will be pro-rata.

Note: Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check. If assessed as a "regulated role," appointment will be subject to joining the PVG Scheme. For more details, visit Disclosure Scotland Changes.

Work Eligibility: To work in the UK, applicants must demonstrate the relevant permission to work, granted by the UK Visa and Immigration Service. NHS Scotland Boards will verify entitlement to work as part of pre-employment checks, which can include visas or EU settled/pre-settled status. More information is available at GOV.UK.

It may be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa if the employer is a licensed sponsor and salary thresholds are met. Details are available at here.

Important: Ensure you have the right to work in the UK or that the post can be sponsored before submitting your application.

Application Deadline: We cannot accept late applications. Please submit early.

NHS Scotland is committed to diversity and equality, welcoming applications from all sections of society.
