Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lecturer in Photography to join the creative arts department at Bridgend College. This role involves planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality practical and theoretical lessons across a range of our FE programmes. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching all facets of photography, encompassing expertise in digital workflows (Adobe Creative Suite, digital capture), traditional analogue darkroom processes, and professional studio lighting and practice. You will be tasked with assessing student work, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring all curriculum content is relevant and aligned with current industry standards.
Responsibilities
* Deliver practical and theoretical photography lessons across FE programmes.
* Teach digital workflows (Adobe Creative Suite, digital capture) and traditional analogue darkroom processes.
* Instruct professional studio lighting and practice.
* Assess student work, provide constructive feedback, and ensure curriculum content remains industry-relevant.
Qualifications
* Degree-level qualification (BA Hons or equivalent) in Photography or a related field, with significant, proven industry experience.
* Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) or willingness to achieve one shortly after appointment.
* Ability to motivate and inspire diverse groups of students, fostering a creative and inclusive learning environment.
Additional information
* Knowledge of delivering practical sessions underpinned by critical and theoretical knowledge.
* Strong awareness and knowledge of digital practices.
* Practising photographer with appropriate professional practice.
* Safeguarding and welfare: an enhanced DBS disclosure for child and adult workforce and registration as a FE Teacher with the Education Workforce Council (where applicable).
* Welsh language consideration: willingness to demonstrate Welsh language skills; specify preference for Welsh assessment/interview in your personal statement.

* Salary (hourly paid contract): Unqualified £25,371 - £29,942 per annum (pro rata, hourly paid); Qualified £32,304 - £49,934 per annum (pro rata, hourly paid).
