The Role: We’re looking for some friendly and reliable Personal Care Assistants to support me in my daily life. I am a 18 year old young woman, who is a full-time wheelchair user, with complex needs; I have a really rare genetic condition (Glutaric Aciduria Type 1), dystonia, unvoluntary movements, severe scoliosis, dislocated right hip, coeliac disease. I have good mental capacity and studying for A level. I am PEG fed (blends), but I do eat orally too. I am nonverbal. I use an AAC device to communicate with people around me, do my schoolwork and interact with the outside world. I enjoy the cinema, going bowling, playing boccia (paralympic sport), going to the theatre, meeting my friends out and about, watching TV and I love going shopping and watching/going to football matches. I'm looking for some people who can help me maintain my independence and enjoy my favourite activities. Main Duties: • · Assisting with personal care tasks such as bathing, toileting and dressing · Hoisting · Manual handling · Peg tube feeding and oral feeding · Administrate medications · Allergies · Emergency protocol (illness) · Accompanying me to social activities, and other outings. · Providing emotional support and companionship Personal Qualities and Attributes required: • · Previous experience in a caregiving role is preferred but not essential. · Experience with SEN preferred but not essential · Be able to drive (a wheelchair accessible vehicle) · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. · Patience, empathy, good sense of humour and a positive and fun attitude. · Ability to work independently and as part of a team. · Reliable and punctual.
