We are thrilled to announce a major contract win with Southern Water and are recruiting a number of Drainage Engineers to work in two‑person teams across Sussex. This is a fantastic opportunity to start a new career with the UK’s largest independent specialist infrastructure delivery partner.

We operate 24/7 and you will be required to work flexible hours, weekends and participate in an on‑call rota. Full training, PPE and company equipment will be provided so that every engineer can perform to Lanes high standard of operation.
About the Role
As a Van Pack Drainage Engineer you will work on the Southern Water contract, travelling to residential sites and delivering efficient solutions to waste‑water and drainage problems.
Responsibilities
* Travel to residential sites in a van and operate a high‑pressure water jet for restoration.
* Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
* Record each job report accurately on the specialist equipment provided.
* Run diagnostics and carry out repairs on drains.
* Deliver good customer service.
* Maintain good health and safety practice while carrying out works.
* Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
* Maintain health and safety responsibilities, including PPE and safe site set‑ups, protecting Lanes Group employees, the public and other road users.
* Use VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
* Work unsupervised in all weather conditions, utilising correct PPE and lone worker systems.
* Dynamic risk assess site access and working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival.
* Liaise with the client regarding progress and updates.
* Provide support to your colleagues.
* Conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before/after use.
* Report any defects or malfunctions in regard to training.
* Carry out risk assessments and maintain a mature approach to risk perception.
* Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibility towards them.
* Perform any other reasonable ad‑hoc duties requested by management.
About You
The ideal candidate will be hardworking, respectful and compliant with health and safety standards. Experience with high‑pressure jetting equipment is useful but not essential. Other drainage qualifications (e.g., NRSWA, Confined Spaces) are an advantage. You must hold a full UK driver’s licence.
