Senior Systems Administrator – Hybrid but mainly onsite - 4 days p/week onsite Location: Cardiff, South Wales A client of ours needs a hands-on Systems Administrator to stabilise, secure, and support their IT environment. It’s a standalone, high-trust role — you’ll be the go-to expert for infrastructure, cloud, and security. This isn’t BAU support. It’s for someone who’s been around the block and can lead the back-end estate while upskilling junior IT staff. What You’ll Be Doing Running the show across Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and on-prem Windows Servers Getting hands-on with Cisco Meraki, Mimecast, backups (Veeam/Acronis), and general networking Being the final escalation point for tricky issues — no ticket-chasing Helping deliver small infrastructure projects and supporting ERP systems (IFS/SAP/Oracle etc.) Improving documentation, security posture, and general system resilience Working closely with the senior management and mentoring junior team members What You’ll Need 5–7 years in a systems/infrastructure role — ideally as a senior, lead, or sole admin Strong experience with: Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams) Azure AD / Entra ID, Group Policy Cisco, ideally Meraki, general networking Mimecast, backups (Veeam/Acronis/Barracuda) ERP support (any major system — e.g. IFS, SAP, Dynamics) Security-aware mindset (ISO 27001, ITIL frameworks, MFA, patching, etc.) Why Take This Role Real ownership — not stuck in red tape or tiered service desks Get things done — decisions are quick, and your input matters Straight-talking environment — no corporate waffle, just solid IT On-site in South Wales— ideal for someone local or willing to travel.
