Intellectual Property Paralegal, Edinburgh

The opportunity: We are looking for a Paralegal to join our highly-regarded Intellectual Property team at Baker McKenzie, Belfast. The successful applicant will support the Firm's Intellectual Property practice, handling IP prosecution, maintenance, and transactional work in a deadline-driven environment. You will work on international IP portfolios, requiring a global mindset and effective coordination with diverse teams worldwide.

Main responsibilities:
1. Support global IP matters such as trade mark formalities, including registration, prosecution, and renewal processes.
2. Prepare client reports independently.
3. Assist with global IP M&A activities, including recordal of assignments and licenses, liaising with local counsel, and drafting legal documents.
4. Conduct IP asset due diligence using official registries and databases.
5. Support anti-counterfeiting efforts, including drafting guides, seizure notifications, and liaising with infringers.
6. Perform trade mark searches and monitoring services.
7. Develop legal knowledge to support firm lawyers and clients effectively.
8. Maintain compliance with firm procedures and standards.
9. Assist with docketing, deadline management, and other IP-related tasks.
Essential criteria:
* Relevant undergraduate degree with 2.1 or above preferred.
* Legal background with IP/trade mark experience preferred.
* Authorization to work in the UK.
Desirable criteria:
* CITMA qualification (advantageous).
