This role will provide support across the Content and Communications team within the University’s Student Recruitment, Marketing and Admissions directorate. The postholder will contribute to driving forward the University’s digital presence, helping raise the University’s profile and engagement across multiple social platforms, creating and sharing targeted, relevant content aligned to the institutional calendar and evolving audiences.
The role involves communications support across the Content and Communications team, with input into event coordination, CRM and web management, and internal and external communications delivery and monitoring. The postholder will enhance online presence, develop wider engagement and influence, and monitor social media.
Responsibilities
* Provide communications support across the Content and Communications Team
* Assist with content and messaging development and delivery with the Communications and Events Manager, Web and Digital Manager, and CRM Officer
* Drive the University’s digital presence with a primary focus on social media; support web, CRM, and the digital screen network
* Support content creation in line with the University’s Content Strategy
* Produce institutional/subject-based digital content proactively and reactively
* Lead organic social media activity; coordinate departmental output in line with the institutional calendar
* Provide proactive and reactive support to uphold the University’s reputation on social media
* Develop, implement and monitor social media plans aligned to marketing objectives and campaigns
* Review social media platforms to reflect audience and demographic changes
* Ensure alignment between social media priorities and website content
* Assist with audience development including alumni and external stakeholders
* Plan and deliver analytics and reporting/insights from campaigns
* Horizon-scan emerging themes and digital engagement; deputise for managers when necessary
* Support the wider marketing team with crisis communications as required
* Handle restricted information in accordance with the University Information Security Policy
Qualifications and Experience
* Educational Qualifications and Training: Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in managing social media platforms and campaigns
* Desirable: Marketing-related qualification (CIM)
* Experience: Creating, developing, testing, and delivering communications with targeted copy; extensive experience managing digital content and online communities for a university or large organisation; good understanding of social media platforms; experience in marketing planning, meeting deadlines; experience in reactive social media/crisis management; project management; budget management
* Desirable: Previous experience of working in higher education or educational settings; experience of managing major social media platforms
* Skills: Creative copywriting and proofreading; ability to tailor tone of voice to audience; ability to plan campaigns and meet deadlines within budget; experience in managing external suppliers/agencies; storytelling and content management across digital platforms; ability to work to targets and metrics; HE environment understanding
* Personal qualities: Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work under pressure; motivated, adaptable, and collaborative; strong organisational and prioritisation abilities; proactive and forward-thinking; commitment to high standards and ongoing development

General Terms & Conditions
This is a full-time permanent appointment, remunerated on the single pay spine, Grade 5 £28,031–£31,236 per annum. Pre-employment clearances apply. Probationary period applies. Standard hours are 37 per week; exact hours to be discussed with the line manager. Annual leave entitlement is 35 days plus bank holidays, pro rata for part-time roles.
