JOB PURPOSE
This role within Access Engineering is to support and, on occasion, lead the engineering of new innovations and technology within the Fixed Networks transformation roadmap using AI, Virtualisation and Automation as key building blocks. This role is about understanding the challenges of LG and OpCos (Operating Countries/affiliates) and to innovate, provide guidance and demonstrate how technology can help to be successful. Taking the technology from concept, through development into delivery.
The constant, faster moving and innovative change of Fixed Network technologies, requires the role to be technologically agile, with the flexibility to support any area within the Fixed Networks transformation roadmap and deliver end to end; working together across teams and OpCos. With the ability to support business evolutions with OpCos such as Netco / Servco solutions.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Leads or is part of a multi-functional technical teams across LG and its OpCos to deliver effective and efficient technologies on time
2. Have direct relationship with peers across LG and OpCos
3. Support OpCos through the technology change and business change; including demonstrations, explaining to management both within LG and its OpCos
4. Influences LG and OpCos spend on network technologies, to optimise budgets to maximise delivery & value for money, providing benefits on budgets > €150m
5. Deliver new technologies from the Fixed Network transformation roadmap, developing quality Designs with validation testing, creating test scripts, that supports successful deployment through field trials
6. Innovates, with LG and OpCos, using new technologies to drive service & customer experience improvements across Networks; sharing standard methodology across OpCos
7. Validates Concepts / Architectures (POC / POA) and Designs through LG Labs and/or Vendor lab testing (including the drive to improvements through automation);
8. Introduction of AI, virtualisation, automation technologies into the Fixed Network to reduce costs, improve delivery & operational excellence and improve customer experience.
9. Highlights efficiencies in testing methodology including an automation first development
10. Understand, advocate and pioneer Tools and Functions to manage, control and improve Fixed Networks
11. Provide a security first policy mindset to secure LG and OpCos across new technology implementations
12. Ambition for further personal development and drive to work in a fast-changing and high-demand environment, where technology change is becoming ever quicker
13. Supports the training across teams to provide training content, provide technical leadership, guidance, coaching and mentoring of team members
14. When required on an ad hoc basis, can fulfil a Senior Engineer role; leading cross functional teams, provide SME support, and provide demonstrations & explanations to Senior management, as the need arises
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:

16. Ability to be credible at all levels of the organization. Our stakeholders and opinion formers are at every level of the organization and it is critical that we listen to them all
17. Ability to simplify complex technologies and explain to and influence Management
18. Deep level knowledge and capability in at least one area of Access technologies; Access technologies include (but not limited to); DOCSIS (CMTS/CCAP & HFC), 10G-PON (OLT/BNG); with a focus on Virtualisation; and the associated tools to manage, control and improve access networks including the use of AI
19. Deep level knowledge and capability in multiple area of Fixed Network technologies is helpful
20. Experience in the introduction of Virtualised platforms, use of AI in network development, use of Automation in enhanced testing and quality improvement
21. Experience in building and configuring Lab environments; creating and executing test scripts

PREFERRED EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
32. Strong academics demonstrating intellectual curiosity and problem solving in complex environments
33. Degree in engineering, IT, maths, business or other subject showing strong analytical capabilities or able to demonstrate a similar level of ability from industrial experience in a Tier 1, Telco or Network Operator
34. Ideally a Masters or further qualification in relevant area
