Offer description

We are committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate, effective, and efficient care. We are looking for nurses who share this ethos and take pride in being part of a professional, hardworking, and friendly team dedicated to ensuring the highest standards within the department.

Please see the attached job description and person specification for more details on the essential and desirable skills and experience required for the role.

We are expanding our team! An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated Band 5 Registered Nurses to join our friendly, patient-focused team at Kendal Urgent Treatment Centre. We seek enthusiastic team players with excellent communication skills to help us deliver safe and effective patient care.

The unit offers a walk-in service for minor injuries and illnesses, and patients may also present with complaints more typical of an Emergency Department. Experience in Urgent and/or Emergency nursing is beneficial, but training and development will be provided to support the necessary skills and knowledge.

The Kendal Urgent Treatment Centre serves South Cumbria and North Lancashire, including transient tourists visiting the Lake District. Last year, over 29,000 patients were seen. The unit operates from 8am to 11pm, 365 days a year, with patient bookings available until 10pm. Shifts include weekends and bank holidays.

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust manages three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, and Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal, along with community health facilities across the region.

FGH and RLI offer full emergency and specialist services, while WGH provides general hospital services and an Urgent Treatment Centre for non-life-threatening conditions.

The Trust promotes flexible working to support work-life balance, is committed to Equal Opportunities, and strives to be Effortlessly Inclusive. The Trust operates a No Smoking Policy.

Only applicants demonstrating how they meet the Person Specification will be shortlisted. The Trust reserves the right to close applications early and does not cover interview expenses unless specified.

Role-specific DBS checks are required, with associated costs for certain roles. Newly appointed staff will undergo a 6-month probation period. We have introduced Pre-Onboarding to assist new staff in settling in, providing useful information about the recruitment process, uniforms, pay, and more. Access it here: Pre-Onboarding.
