Legal Counsel - Risk & Compliance - Bristol - 2+ Years PQE
Location: Bristol
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time or 4 days per week (hybrid working available)
Salary: £60,000 to £80,000 (depending on experience)
A highly respected international law firm is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its expanding UK Risk & Compliance Department in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified lawyer to take on a varied, high impact role within a collaborative, forward thinking team that plays a central part in the firm's operations and regulatory obligations.
The Role
* Advising on conflicts of interest
* Anti money laundering (AML) queries and compliance
* Reviewing and advising on engagement terms
* Handling complaints and professional negligence claims
* Advising on data protection matters
* Supporting on commercial contracts
* Liaising with insurers and brokers
* Drafting guidance notes, policies, and training materials
* Delivering training to practice groups and new joiners
* Supporting firm wide risk and compliance projects
* Contributing to policy development and implementation
* Building strong internal stakeholder relationships
Candidate Requirements
* Experience in a regulated business environment
* Exposure to governance, risk, compliance, or related legal areas (e.g., professional negligence, data protection, commercial contracts)
* Strong understanding of relevant statutory and regulatory frameworks
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
* Confidence in making business critical decisions
* Strong communication and influencing skills
* A proactive, energetic, and solutions focused approach
* Ability to manage expectations across varied stakeholder groups
