The company delivers a unique range of automotive-centric services including industry-leading fleet management and vehicle funding solutions (such as hire purchase and leasing).
From its UK offices in Chippenham and Birmingham, the company is serving its customers across the entire UK.
What will you do?
* Responsible for all legal aspects of the UK business.
* Partner with the UK business leader and the wider leadership team to support growth and success, and to draft and negotiate a wide range of transactional and business agreements, including contracts with customers, vendors, suppliers, and other partners.
* Support UK management teams with legal needs, including risk reduction and proactive advice.
* Advise on routine and complex legal issues, independently and with outside counsel.
* Contribute to and support the UK business plan implementation.
* Identify and mitigate material risks and support enterprise risk management activities.
* Support the creation, implementation, and maintenance of UK legal compliance programs.
* Build good relations with internal stakeholders and external partners.
* Establish relationships with outside counsel.
* Develop competence, provide training, and raise awareness among relevant stakeholders.
* Supervise and develop a UK-based contracts paralegal.
* Assist the Region General Counsel Europe on other matters as requested.
What are we looking for?
* University degree
* 7+ years PQE as a solicitor
* Experience in financial services, automotive/fleet management, and complex commercial contracts, in both in-house and law firm environments.
* Experience with contracts, commercial matters, drafting and negotiating client service contracts, compliance, transactional M&A, cooperation arrangements, counseling, and handling various business matters.
* Data privacy and information security experience is a plus. IP and licensing experience is a plus.
* Experience with delegation of authority, supervising contract management, and developing legal technology solutions (including AI) is a plus.
* Excellent analytical, communication, legal research, and writing skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
* Experience managing outside counsel and projects.
* Ability to provide pragmatic, commercially aware advice.
