Position Details
This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the 'ECT Family' – this includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, both NHS and ECT bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from applicants not listed within these groups.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with considerable experience at band 5. With excellent communication and team‑working skills, and experience in leading a team, you will join our busy ward. Our nursing team focuses on the six C's to deliver high‑quality, compassionate care to patients and carers. We will support your development here through personal development planning, training opportunities, and broadening your knowledge and skills as a qualified nurse.
The role of the band 6 Charge Nurse is to support, contribute to and assist the Senior Sister in the leadership and management of the Ward/unit team and to support the Ward Manager in the development, monitoring and implementation of high‑quality, evidence‑based clinical care. This ensures continuity of service provision and that standards are maintained and improved.
Eligibility
* Applicants must be current employees or bank staff of East Cheshire NHS Trust.
* Graduate visa holders may apply provided they have a minimum of 6 months remaining on their visa at the start of employment.
* All applicants will need an Enhanced DBS check; the cost is payable by the successful candidate.
* Applicants who have lived or worked abroad for 6 months or more in the last 5 years must obtain an overseas police clearance.
Ward Overview
The position is based on Ward 5 and the Surgical Day Case Unit. Ward 5 is a 13‑bedded surgical ward delivering high‑quality care to elective and non‑elective general surgical and gynaecological patients. It also includes an additional Surgical Day Case Unit and a Surgical Treatment Unit where we care for elective day‑case patients.
