Overview
This is a business partnering role within our Finance Function. You will partner one of the areas that make up our COO business unit, providing insight to the Society's technology base and how the Society manages its investment portfolio. The COO Finance team is at the core of delivering against the Society's Strategy, managing financial strength and ensuring members’ money is spent wisely while supporting great customer propositions and income potential. The role offers an opportunity to provide financial guidance, analysis, and challenge to support decision making.
Our hybrid working model combines office presence with home working to support collaboration and flexibility. You will spend at least two days per week in Swindon (or 40% of time if part time); further details will be provided by your hiring manager.
What you'll be doing
As an Accountant you will have experience in core management accounting processes and in working with financial data under tight deadlines. This is a business partnering role requiring stakeholder management in a commercially focused environment. You will interpret financial data to create management information (MI) and insights for stakeholders, while growing stakeholder management, commercial, and influencing skills across the Society.
The primary focus is to support the Strategic Investment activity within one of the COO Sub-Portfolios, driving efficiency, supporting key management decisions across the Strategic Investment (SI) Portfolio, and linking delivery outcomes with value for money.
About you
As a minimum, you will have:
* A qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or finalist with a proven track record of passing professional exams
* Significant experience in a financial environment
* Excellent Excel skills with experience consolidating large data sets into management information
* Experience presenting financial information to senior stakeholders and ability to take a big-picture view
