Overview

Salary Range: £23,493 pro rata, per annum (Support Scale 5, Fixed Point 13). £8,005.70 per annum - salary estimation based on 14.8 hours per week, 38 weeks per year. For any roles that start part way through the academic year, the annual salary will be pro rata to the remaining months.


Protection of Children and Young Persons

Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within Regulated Activity within a specific place (i.e. the College).

This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. By applying for this position, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations.

Background to the Post

The role of Learning Support Administrator is central in supporting the teams in learning support (the inclusion team, the team who work with students with learning difficulties and disabilities and the team providing English and maths support). The main purpose of the role is to support the cross-College Inclusion and Learning Support teams and the administration of the exam access arrangements process.

Line Management: The Learning Support Administrator (Inclusion and Access Arrangements) will report directly to the Head of Inclusion and Learning Support (SENCO).


Duties and Responsibilities


Specific Role Duties

* Provide general administrative support for the Head of Inclusion and Learning Support.
* Provide information and guidance for students and their parents/guardians regarding access arrangements for examination entries.
* Support the co-ordination of the access arrangements cross-College, liaising with Personal Learning Advisers (PLAs), the English and maths team and other teams offering external examinations under the Joint Council for Qualifications.
* Liaise with the examinations team to ensure all students have the best opportunity to succeed.


General Duties

* Provide administrative support to the Head of Inclusion and Learning Support as requested.
* Contribute to team meetings and take minutes as requested.
* Contribute to open events, interviews and induction for new students as requested.
* Ensure a safe working environment for colleagues, students and visitors in line with the HASAW Act and the College Health and Safety Policy.
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults for whom you are responsible and whom you come into contact with.
* To attend college delivered ‘Teaching Essentials’ training.

In order to support during busy exam periods, you may be asked to undertake exam invigilator duties. The College will provide training.

The list of duties is not exhaustive but outlines the main features of the post at appointment and may vary as the job evolves without affecting the nature of the duties or the responsibility level.


Working Weeks and Hours

This post is normally for 38 working weeks per year but this may be less if the post holder starts after the beginning of the academic year. Salary will be paid in equal monthly amounts across the academic year.

The post holder will be expected to work such hours as are necessary for the proper performance of their duties and responsibilities, normally 14.8 hours per week.


Place of Work

The principal place of work will be the College’s premises based at our Royal Leamington Spa College. However, the post holder may be required to work on either a temporary or an indefinite basis at any premises at which we may provide services.

Attainment

Essential:

* GCSEs in English and Mathematics at Grade C or above (or equivalent qualification), or willingness to work towards once in post.
* Working knowledge of information technology such as e-mail, the internet and other software applications.
* Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Desirable:

* An IT qualification at minimum of level 2.
