Consultant Psychiatrist in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry - North Core
Position: NHS Medical & Dental: Consultant
Job Overview
The post-holder will provide medical leadership to the North CAMHS team within the Integrated Children’s Service, collaborating with consultant colleagues in CAMHS and Paediatrics, MDTs, and Managers.
Main Duties
* Provide clinical assessment and treatment to children and young people with psychiatric disorders, mainly with the Core North Team, approximately 1 new case per week.
* Potentially allocate some PAs to work with the neurodevelopmental team (ADHD pathway).

Detailed Responsibilities
Main Duties
1. Provide leadership to the North CAMHS team, working closely with colleagues and managers.
2. Conduct assessments and treatments for young people with psychiatric disorders.
3. Work primarily with the Core North team, with flexibility for neurodevelopmental work.
4. Participate in team meetings, clinical governance, and CPD activities.
5. Support the Home treatment and crisis teams, formulating cases and care plans.
6. Allocate 2.5 Programmed Activities for CPD, audit, governance, supervision, and research.
7. Train trainees and GPs, acting as supervisor where appropriate.
8. Contribute to rota coverage for daytime and out-of-hours on-call duties.
9. Engage in teaching, training, and multi-agency consultation.
10. Maintain accurate clinical records and participate in administrative duties.
11. Collaborate to cover absences and ensure service continuity.
Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* Full GMC registration and license to practice
* MRCPsych or equivalent
* Section 12 Approved Psychiatrist or willingness to train
* Approved Clinician Status or willingness to attain
Experience
* Multidisciplinary working experience
* Experience training doctors in training
* Wide range of specialist/sub-specialist experience
Skills & Knowledge
* Expertise in child & adolescent psychiatry
* Decision-making, leadership, therapeutic skills (e.g., CBT)
* Experience in managing Learning Disability presentations
Academic & Professional Development
* Ability to teach and train at undergraduate/postgraduate levels
* Active participation in CPD, research, audits, and service improvements
