Bank Lecturer in Journalism and Media (0.72 post) – Faculty of Creative Industries
Contract Details
Fixed term until 26th June 2026: 25 hours per week. Salary: £41,838–£50,359 (TQFE £48,227) pro rata.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be assigned to the Faculty of Creative Industries, Journalism & Communications Curriculum Team. You will chiefly teach vocational subjects across practical journalism at a variety of levels and to a diverse range of students. The main area of teaching will be various aspects across journalism including public affairs, Scots law and social/ethical issues. There is a focus on developing students to be work‑ready with industry engagement and live news days. As a professional member of the teaching staff of the College, you will be responsible for the preparation of lessons, the teaching of students and the assessment and verification of their work.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess recent and relevant industry experience with skills from a newsroom environment. A measurable record of application of the above areas would be welcomed. The successful candidate will also have a working knowledge of post‑school education and of curriculum development at a national/higher level, and good skills in communication and working with others. A relevant degree and previous teaching and/or training experience is essential.
Additional Requirements
Successful applicants will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Disclosure Check & Certificate of Good Conduct (as applicable) and must be eligible to work in the UK.
