This new role holder is responsible for leading the team to drive proactive risk management into the Business Units where external financial crime threats are identified and notified by law enforcement and where investigation control environment enhancements are identified.

The role holder will lead the teams who respond to externally generated leads and requests from external partners and will drive the triage and tasking of the FIU Complex Investigations teams alongside the FIU Global Head of Investigations.

The role holder will lead a team based across London, Glasgow, and India and will report to the Global Head of FIU.

We're looking for individuals with a background in economic/financial crime, who can understand the linkages from fraud and articulate the risks and findings of their investigations.

Experience in line management and stakeholder engagement is highly desirable, as these roles involve managing teams across multiple locations and engaging key stakeholders across various functions and locations.

Purpose of the role

To conduct investigations into various aspects of the bank’s operations and/or conduct of individuals to identify and address potential instances of non-compliance, fraud, misconduct, or other unethical behaviour that harms or is likely to harm the reputation or financial well-being of the firm or may lead to legal and/or regulatory censure.

Accountabilities

* Identification and evaluation of potential risks associated with non-compliance or unethical conduct and implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
* Leading investigations into alleged violations of policies, regulations, or laws.
* Provision of training programs to enhance awareness of compliance issues and ethical conduct among colleagues.
* Documentation of investigation processes and provision of recommendations for corrective actions and improvements based on investigation findings.
* Utilisation of advanced technology and data analytics tools to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of investigations.
* Assessment of relevant internal and external information and intelligence in furtherance of the investigation.
* Fulfilment of any necessary external legal and/or regulatory reporting obligations where applicable.

Director Expectations

* Manage a business function, providing significant input to strategic initiatives. Contribute to and influence policy and procedures, and manage multiple complex projects that may be business-wide.
* Lead a large team or sub-function, managing other managers and embedding a performance culture aligned with the company's values. For individual contributors, lead organization-wide projects and act as a deep technical expert and thought leader, identifying new ways of working and collaborating cross-functionally. Train, guide, and coach less experienced specialists, and provide insights affecting long-term profits, organizational risks, and strategic decisions.
* Provide expert advice to senior management and committees to influence decisions outside of own function, contributing to strategic initiatives.
* Manage resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
* Escalate breaches of policies/procedures appropriately.
* Foster and guide compliance, ensuring regulations are observed and relevant processes are in place to facilitate adherence.
* Monitor and influence external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups on behalf of Barclays when appropriate.
* Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division/group to achieve overall objectives.
* Maintain broad and current knowledge of industry practices, sector developments, and external market initiatives.
* Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in complex or sensitive situations.
* Exercise management authority to make significant and strategic decisions within own area.
* Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
* Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/business divisions.
* Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
