About The Role
Balfour Beatty is looking for a Project Manager to join our high‑performing Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team, leading delivery on major projects in the Hull area. This is a unique chance to be part of a critical infrastructure project supporting the UK’s energy transition, working within a collaborative and expert team that values flexible working and career development.
Hours: 45 per week.
What You'll Be Doing
- Hold periodic project reviews and update the Digital Briefcase.
- Ensure the team maintains accurate project records (progress, daily diaries, etc.).
- Prepare and present both internal and external reports and liaise with stakeholders.
- Understand technical answers and explanations.
- Manage teams to ensure work is delivered.
- Interrogate designs and challenge inputs and deliverables.
- Ensure reports provide relevant information to enable cost‑effective, business‑aligned decisions.
- Maintain Zero Harm focus and keep up to date with changes in legislation.
- Accountable for the safety and welfare of the general public, employees and supply chain.
- Lead safety & environmental tours, promote observation and safety initiatives.
- Lead accident/incident investigations.
- Monitor the effectiveness of the H&S Management System and implement improvement actions.
- Review RAMS and accept subcontractor RAMS.
- Develop H&S plans and treat them as live documents.
- Ensure the workforce’s sufficiency and competency.
- Produce plans for the team to achieve goals and aspirations.
- Develop high‑performing teams, promote a talent pipeline, and support internal training through mentoring, guidance, and empowerment.
Who We’re Looking For
- Experience on a variety of project types.
- A proven track record of project delivery.
- Deep understanding and practical experience of standard forms of contracts.
- Proficiency in commercial / project management communications.
- Experience implementing safe systems of work.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills at all organisational levels.
- Ability to communicate new concepts and ideas to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Effective team‑management skills that empower, influence and inspire others; ability to provide mentoring and support.
- Good knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics.
- Record of a solution‑based approach to problem solving.
- Award‑winning vision that inspires shared vision among the team.
- Capable of discussing ideas and plans with competence and confidence.
- The ability to sponsor and promote diversity and inclusion on projects.
- A learning mindset to drive personal development.
- Membership of a professional management body (e.g., APM).
- Proficiency on O365.
- A current driving licence.
