Financial Controller (12-month FTC)
Location: Bromley, London
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days on-site)
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum
Start Date: September 2025
Our client, a well-established and expanding insurance business that forms part of one of the world’s largest insurance groups, is seeking a qualified and commercially astute Financial Controller / Head of Accounts to oversee their UK and overseas entities on a 12-month fixed-term contract .
Although the day-to-day accounting function is outsourced, this role is pivotal in managing those external relationships, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, maintaining regulatory compliance, and providing key support for strategic decision-making. You will work closely with Group Finance, senior stakeholders, and auditors to ensure effective governance and smooth financial operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with strong stakeholder management skills and experience working in regulated or international environments .
Role Responsibilities:
Financial Oversight & Reporting: Review and validate monthly management accounts and reporting packs prepared by outsourced accounting providers.
Group Finance Collaboration: Act as the primary point of contact between the UK/Overseas entities and Group Finance. Support group consolidation processes and respond to group-level reporting queries and audit queries.
Regulatory & Compliance Reporting: Oversee tax, VAT, and regulatory reporting processes in the UK and overseas. Liaise with auditors, external advisers, and local authorities to ensure all statutory obligations are met.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles in collaboration with senior leadership. Deliver insightful variance analysis and commercial commentary.
Process Improvement & Systems: Identify and implement improvements to finance processes, systems, and controls - even when delivered through outsourced providers.
Essential Skills / Experience:
Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
Strong post-qualification experience in financial control, financial management, or business partnering roles
Proven experience working with or overseeing outsourced accounting functions
Strong knowledge of financial reporting and regulatory compliance
Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple stakeholders effectively
Comfortable working across international entities or within a regulated industry
