Position Overview
Title: Head of Development (Major Gifts) – Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
Grade 9: £55,636–£64,228 per annum (including £1,500 weighting). Permanent, full‑time (37.5 hours per week).
Employment type: Full‑time. Seniority level: Mid‑Senior. Function: General Business, Marketing, and Public Relations. Industries: Higher Education, Fundraising, and Research Services.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and cultivate a mixed portfolio of approximately 85 prospects, including individuals, corporations, trusts & foundations.
* Secure philanthropic support for high‑profile projects and strategic institutional priorities.
* Translate institutional priorities into robust cases for support, working closely with subject‑matter experts.
* Operate successfully in fast‑paced environments, demonstrating an entrepreneurial mindset and strong fundraising best‑practice knowledge.
* Maintain a high level of organization, ensuring timely communication and reporting to senior stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven experience in major donor fundraising, ideally with exposure to the corporate world.
* Strong track record of securing seven‑figure gifts and managing high‑net‑worth prospects.
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple priorities.
* Knowledge of current fundraising best practices and industry trends.
