The role
As a Defect Investigation Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Step into a vital role within our in-service engineering team, where you’ll help maintain the safety and readiness of Royal Navy Submarines managing concessions throughout their life cycle.
Day to day, you’ll be at the forefront of upholding the engineering standards of the Royal Navy, supporting mission-critical operations that keep the fleet ready and reliable.
1. Investigate defect reports raised by ship staff and drive timely resolution
2. Analyse trends using engineering databases and recommend preventive actions
3. Manage concessions through their full lifecycle, including work package development
4. Collaborate with ship staff, MoD, and Babcock subject matter experts to deliver solutions
This role is full time and will be based at either our Bristol or Devonport site with hybrid working from home arrangements.
Essential experience of the Defect Investigation Engineer
5. Engineering industry experience, with a strong understanding of technical requirements
6. Proven ability to manage projects and tasks in dynamic environments
7. Proficient in Microsoft Office tools for documentation, reporting, and communication
8. Familiarity with commercial and subcontractor processes
Qualifications for the Defect Investigation Engineer
9. Degree in a relevant STEM discipline; or
10. HND / BTEC Level 5 in a relevant STEM field, supported by experience in an engineering environment
