We are seeking an Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour & Attitudes to join our Senior Leadership Team and drive whole‑school excellence across behaviour, pastoral care and personal development. This is a pivotal role for a dynamic, emotionally intelligent leader who can combine strategic thinking with a highly visible, hands‑on presence.
What You'll Do
Strategic Leadership
1. Drive whole‑school behaviour, attitudes and pastoral strategies alongside the Headteacher and SLT.
2. Lead consistent, relational and trauma‑informed behaviour and pastoral systems across both sites.
3. Maintain a visible leadership presence, modelling exemplary behaviour practice and contributing to whole‑school improvement.
Behaviour, Attitudes & Pastoral Excellence
4. Oversee behaviour standards, emotional regulation and wellbeing, ensuring pupils are safe, supported and ready to learn.
5. Use data to monitor behaviour, attitudes and personal development, shaping interventions and reintegration plans.
6. Lead targeted pastoral and therapeutic support to improve engagement, attendance and readiness to learn.
Safeguarding & Multi‑Agency Collaboration
7. Ensure safeguarding, attendance and behaviour systems are robust and fully compliant with statutory duties.
8. Work closely with external agencies, clinical teams and local authorities to coordinate holistic support.
9. Chair pastoral, safeguarding or reintegration meetings where required.
Staff Leadership & Development
10. Line manage and coach staff, ensuring high‑quality behaviour management and pastoral practice.
11. Provide training, modelling and support in trauma‑informed approaches and de‑escalation.
12. Contribute to quality assurance processes linked to behaviour, safeguarding and pastoral care.
SEND & Inclusion
13. Work with the SENCO to ensure all EHCP behaviour provisions are fully met.
14. Align behaviour and pastoral strategies with individual needs and personalised pathways.
15. Oversee reintegration planning informed by behaviour, wellbeing and progress data.
What you will bring:

16. QTS or equivalent required
17. Appropriate leadership & management experience
18. A compassionate, reflective and resilient leader with a deep understanding of trauma‑informed and relational practice.
19. Skilled in developing whole‑school systems that promote positive behaviour and wellbeing.
20. Experienced in pastoral leadership, safeguarding and multi‑agency collaboration.
21. Able to inspire, coach and hold staff to high standards.
22. Committed to creating a calm, safe and purposeful learning environment where every child can succeed.
23. A UK driving licence
