Associate Mechanical Operator
Location: RAF Marham
Duration: 20 months
Hourly Rate: £21 PAYE or £28.11 via umbrella (inside IR35)
Working Pattern: Full-time, onsite
Security Clearance: BPSS with SC (subject to ITAR restrictions)

About the Role
We are seeking multiple Associate Mechanical Operators to join our team at RAF Marham. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary environment supporting aircraft maintenance and repair activities.

In this role, you will carry out metalworking and corrosion remediation tasks on aircraft, contributing directly to operational readiness and safety. You’ll work as part of a close-knit team, following approved maintenance procedures and technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities
1. Performing maintenance activities in line with Approved Technical Information and risk assessments
2. Ensuring all airworthiness records are accurately maintained
3. Documenting all work undertaken and reporting/escalating issues as required
4. Complying with organisational procedures, including MOE and associated standards
5. Applying Safety Management System principles, including human factors and error management
6. Supporting Continuing Airworthiness Assurance requirements
7. Undertaking hands-on aircraft work, including:
8. Preparation of metal and composite structures for repair
9. Drilling and reaming of aircraft panels and structures
10. Application of adhesive bonding
11. Removal and installation of aircraft fasteners
Knowledge & Experience
Essential Skills:
12. Experience using manual and pneumatic tools
13. Experience preparing metal and/or composite surfaces for repair
14. Knowledge of drilling, honing, and reaming techniques
15. Experience installing and removing aircraft fasteners
16. Familiarity with adhesive bonding processes
Knowledge:
17. General understanding of aircraft structures or mechanical systems
18. Awareness of team integration and continuous improvement principles
Qualifications
19. Engineering Apprenticeship (ideally Aeronautical Engineering) or military equivalent
20. Minimum NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent)
21. Recognised certifications (e.g. City & Guilds, IMI, Edexcel, EAL, SEMTA, ATA)
22. Equivalent experience supported by formal evidence (e.g. military service records) will be considered
