We are expanding our service and support team and are looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our team. ROLE OVERVIEW As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliable operation of critical power systems. Your responsibilities will include commissioning, maintenance, service, and repair activities related to various uninterruptible power supply (UPS) solutions. Working in critical power environments, you will demonstrate excellent communication skills and take full ownership of your assigned tasks. Responsibilities As a Field Service Engineer at Critical Power Supplies, you’ll play a key role in delivering expert technical support and high-quality service to our customers across the UK. Your responsibilities will include: • Performing start-ups, commissioning, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs on various UPS systems (AC, DC, and SNMP cards). • Leading installation and service projects in coordination with our sales and operations teams. • Providing technical support to customers and internal departments, including Sales, Admin, and Operations. • Ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards and in line with company, industry, and site-specific guidelines. • Be a professional representative of Critical Power Supplies at all times, with a customer-focused and solution-oriented approach. • Supporting colleagues and contributing to the day-to-day success of the service department. • Attending training and development sessions to stay current with technology and support the team's growth. • Promoting and protecting our brand by working collaboratively with customers, contractors, and partners. • Accurately documenting site visits, service reports, and any issues identified or resolved. • Managing UPS installation projects and unit replacements when required. • Educating customers on their systems’ basic operation and flagging any concerns to help maintain uptime and performance. • Ensuring all parts used are correctly labelled, documented, and returned according to company procedures. • Complying with all safety, cyber security, and operational policies and procedures. • Taking a proactive approach to continuous improvement, teamwork, and delivering a great customer experience. Qualifications • 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (Electrician) • ECS Card (Approved Person) • Ideally holds an Approved Person LV Qualification • Full UK Driving Licence (Clean) • Professional Technical Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical engineering Skills & Experience • 2–5 years’ field experience within the UPS industry or a related critical power environment • Solid understanding of electricity and electronics principles, including current regulations and codes of practice • Proven experience with DC battery builds and battery system maintenance • Confident working with both AC and DC switchgear systems • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills in high-pressure environments • Excellent customer-facing skills; able to communicate clearly with clients, suppliers, and internal teams • Strong IT skills, with proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with service reporting tools • Adaptable and proactive mindset with a hands-on, “can-do” approach to challenges • Able to work independently and manage time effectively across field-based assignments
