Mental Health Nurse - 111 Mental Health Option
Are you an experienced mental health professional looking to utilise your clinical skills in a different setting? Our Suffolk First Response Service is seeking Senior Crisis Care Practitioners to join the existing team.
The First Response Service provides a 24/7 crisis telephone line, offering support, advice, and assessment in a compassionate, patient-centred, and recovery-focused manner.
You'll join a team with diverse experience, working in a supportive and encouraging environment.
We have substantive opportunities for both full and part-time hours. Our shifts include long days (7.30am - 8pm), nights (7:45pm - 7:45am), and twilights.
We are committed to professional development and support individuals seeking to advance into more senior roles. This role offers opportunities to develop management skills, take on responsibilities, and help shape our service. Daily tasks include working within an MDT, providing telephone triage assessments, and supporting service users through crises at our contact centre located at Wedgwood House, Bury St Edmunds.
Main Duties
As a Senior Crisis Care Practitioner, your responsibilities will include:
* Answering calls from service users and professionals
* Triaging and assessing over the phone
* Safety planning
* Documenting assessments, referrals, and notes
* Liaising with other professionals and teams
* Creating formulations and plans for regular callers (on occasion)
* Leading or championing specific areas such as Learning Disability, Youth, Drug & Alcohol, Perinatal, etc. (including training, sharing knowledge, attending conferences)
* Shadowing other teams where appropriate
* Providing brief interventions over the phone
* Participating in Quality Improvement initiatives
You will also have opportunities to coordinate shifts, provide clinical oversight, support practitioners, lead staff development, and serve as a role model reflecting the trust’s values and service vision.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker with relevant registration
* Ongoing professional development towards degree level
Experience
* Knowledge of mental health practice from previous experience
* Effective risk assessment and management experience
* Experience supporting service development
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975; a DBS check will be required to screen for previous convictions.
Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 per year (gross, pro-rata)
