About the role
The School of Engineering at UWE Bristol invites an Advanced Materials and Testing Technician to support colleagues in laboratories and workshops. The role will support students’ formal learning and work with students and researchers to carry out and support project work.
Key responsibilities
* Deliver demonstrations and training to a broad range of learners and users of workshop/laboratory/test equipment.
* Take proactive responsibility for critical safety areas.
* Set up and support materials testing, including Instron tensile, compression, fatigue testing systems, and data handling.
* Operate digital platforms such as MS Office, Teams, Bluehill Universal, Wavematrix, and other engineering software.
* Support project work and enable student learning journeys.
Qualifications
* Prior experience in technical and teaching environments.
* Experience with workshop and laboratory equipment setup, materials science and testing systems.
* Digital platform proficiency (MS Office, Teams, Bluehill, Wavematrix). Willingness to adopt other software.
* Excellent communication, safety awareness, and ability to work with students and researchers.
