The Opportunity
We are working exclusively with the Cumbria Youth Alliance who are seeking an experienced, commercially aware and community-focused leader to take on a newly created role as Head of Centre.
This is a unique opportunity to lead the ongoing development of a multi-use youth and community hub, combining community delivery with commercial sustainability.
The role will suit someone who thrives in a hands-on, evolving environment, and is motivated by the opportunity to build and lead a newly established centre through its next phase of development.
Working closely with the COO, you will take ownership of the centre, driving utilisation, developing partnerships, and ensuring the space becomes a vibrant, sustainable and well-used community asset.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day management and development of the centre
Develop and manage a structured weekly programme of activity, balancing internal delivery and external usage
Drive income generation through room hire, partnerships and commercial opportunities
Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including public sector and community organisations
Act as the primary point of contact for centre users, partners and external organisations
Work closely with internal teams including Finance, HR, Operations and Marketing
Line manage a small number of staff where applicable
Oversee building operations, including maintenance, access and space utilisation
Identify and develop new opportunities to increase occupancy, engagement and revenue
Support wider organisational fundraising and sustainability initiatives, including diversifying income streams
About You
Proven experience managing or developing a multi-use space, service or community provision
Strong commercial awareness, with experience in income generation, partnerships or revenue growth
Confident managing stakeholder relationships across public, private or third sector organisations
Comfortable working in a growing and evolving environment, with the ability to adapt to change
A hands-on approach, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and operational delivery
Strong organisational and communication skills
Passionate about community impact and supporting young people
