Job Purpose
This role will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Financial Control team which manages income, expenditure streams, assets, liabilities, and associated tax within the Trust. This includes:
* Revenue recognition and reconciliation
* Accounting for Stock
* Intercompany accounting
* Balance Sheet Management
* Accruals, Prepayments, Accrued and Deferred Income
* Taxation Accounting & Advisory Services
* Trust payroll and expense claim facilitation
* Financial Control procedures, systems, and team activities
The role involves planning and managing deadlines ranging from daily to annual, including preparing month-end results, annual reports, and external audits. It also includes ensuring VAT and Gift Aid compliance with HMRC regulations, maintaining effective internal controls, and developing best practice processes.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
* Lead and manage the Financial Control team, supporting their development and performance management.
* Develop policies and processes for income recognition and balance sheet management in compliance with FRS102 and OSCR SORP.
* Ensure compliance with VAT and tax legislation, liaising with external advisers as needed.
* Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement processes and controls.
* Explain financial concepts to non-accountants to promote understanding.
