This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic candidate to become a directorate Matron for Endoscopy. As the Matron you will provide clinical & professional leadership and line management to the nursing teams across three endoscopy units based at Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burney General Hospital. In addition they will manage the pre-assessment team and provide clinical support to the operational teams within the service.
Sitting within the Digestive Diseases Directorate, the endoscopy service undertakes a range of Endoscopy activity including the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme, ERCP, EUS, OGD, Colonoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy and video capsule procedures.
Within this role the successful candidate will be the nursing lead for quality and safety and will lead on JAG accreditation for the service.
Main duties of the job
Hold Clinical Nursing responsibility for the three Endoscopy Departments across ELHT over a 24- hour period and support the operational manager with day-to-day leadership and management of the three endoscopy units based at Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General Hospital.
- To manage and clinically lead a large team of nursing and nursing support staff including registered nurses, healthcare care assistants, assistant practitioners, nursing apprentices and nursing associates.
- Take lead clinical nursing responsibility for compliance with The Joint Advisory Group (JAG) accreditation.
- Take lead nursing responsibility for Co-ordination of the The National Bowel Screening Programme
- Hold responsibility for maintaining compliance with related National and Local Targets
including DM01 Diagnostic targets and Cancer Targets.
- Support the Operational manager to hold responsibility for managing capacity and demand for the service and ensuring appointment booking is timely and efficient for both inpatients and outpatients.
- Provide a visible and accessible presence within the clinical area of responsibility for patients and their families/carers and staff, providing assistance, advice and support.
- Ensure quality and safety of the Endoscopy service is continuously monitored and upheld at all times.

* Substantive registration experience which includes experience at a senior level in nursing / midwifery.
* Evidence of extensive expert professional knowledge supplemented by post reg. specialist managerial / leadership training and CPD.
* Effective communicator able to communicate highly complex and sensitive information
* Evidence of persuasive and strong influencing skills and the ability to manage conflict.
* Evidence of effective people management and leadership skills
* Proven record of leading and effectively managing change across organisations
* Evidence of relevant involvement in meeting the Trust clinical governance objectives
