Wells & Co are an independent, family-owned business based in Bedfordshire. Since 1876, we've focused on two things: running great pubs and making great beer. As we expand in the UK and France, we are seeking a talented Management Accountant to join our team and contribute to our growth.
Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, this role involves preparing management accounts for all business segments, including our pubs in the UK and France.
You will play a key role in managing and optimizing our financial performance. Your responsibilities will include analyzing financial data, preparing budgets and forecasts, tax reporting, and providing strategic insights for decision-making.

Key Accountabilities:
* Complete month-end processes and produce management accounts accurately and on time, analyzing performance variances.
* Perform balance sheet reconciliations with supporting documentation and commentary.
* Identify process improvements and opportunities to align UK & French processes.
* Assist the Group Finance Manager and Finance Business Partners with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
* Liaise with French external accountants for tax reporting.
* Support the UK and French annual audit processes.
* Review and monitor existing processes within divisions for continuous improvement.
* Propose reporting process enhancements for efficiency.
* Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels and perform ad hoc analyses to support business functions.
* Work closely with the Assistant Management Accountant to ensure timely posting of journal entries and reconciliations across segments.
About you:
* Qualified accountant with at least 1 year post-qualification experience in audit or industry, or finalist with 4+ years of relevant experience.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office tools.
* A team player who supports collaborative problem-solving.
* Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and integrity.
* Positive attitude with enthusiasm for a changing, evolving culture and teamwork.
* Capable of explaining complex ideas clearly to both finance and non-finance colleagues.
* Proven track record of process improvements and delivering results.
