Role Overview
A care assistant provides person‑centred support to residents, helping them maintain independence and dignity. The role involves assisting with daily tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, mealtimes, while engaging in social activities and providing companionship.
Key Responsibilities
* Support residents with washing, toileting, dressing, and undressing.
* Assist with daily living activities, ensuring comfort and dignity.
* Use aids effectively for residents with limited mobility.
* Monitor residents who may be confused or have behavioural problems.
* Promote continence and support residents who are dying or have a progressive illness.
* Record daily care plans and maintain written records.
* Facilitate social activities and interact with residents.
* Answer Nursecall system and telephone.
* Report on residents’ well‑being under senior staff guidance.
* Carry out regular checks on residents at intervals.
* Wel‑come visitors and provide refreshments.
* Maintain bed and room cleanliness, managing waste disposal policy.
* Clean and maintain equipment used by residents.
* Assist with meal times, serving food, setting tables, washing up.
* Escort residents to and from outings, hospital visits.
* Maintain privacy and dignity for residents and families.
* Assist with rearranging bedrooms, moving furniture safely.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* Genuine interest in working within a caring environment.
* Effective communication at all levels.
* Team player.
* Willingness to participate in vocational training programmes.
* Satisfactory Police Check and POVA List check where applicable.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
* Relevant vocational qualification achieved or working towards.
* Experience of working with the relevant client group.
Training & Development
* Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
* Attend mandatory training days/courses on or off site.
* Participate in relevant N/SVQ training to achieve required qualifications.
Health & Safety
* Report immediately to Manager or Person in Charge any illness or accident.
* Understand and implement Health and Safety policy and emergency procedures.
* Report faulty appliances or equipment to Manager or Handyperson.
* Promote safe working practice throughout the home.
* Maintain confidentiality of confidential information.
* Ensure security of the home at all times.
* Adhere to all company policies.
* Co‑operate with any other reasonable tasks assigned.
Contract & Salary
Full‑time, £12.40 hourly, Closing date Thursday 19th February 2026
