MOD Dentist

A patient‑focused MOD Dentist is required to deliver quality dental care within Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC). The role is full‑time (37 hours per week) and flexible arrangements will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
Key responsibilities
* Provide clinical dental services to service personnel, maximising their deployability.
* Allocate approximately 2 hours of each week to non‑clinical activities such as practice meetings, training, and personal administration.
* Adhere to General Dental Council standards, Defence policies, and DPHC Standard Operating Procedures.
* Maintain the dental health and operational fitness of the population at risk.
* Participate in clinical quality assurance, performance management and appraisal processes.
* Cover on‑call, out‑of‑hours duties as part of a regional team when required.
* Engage in continuous professional development and meet GDC CPD requirements.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Completed Foundation Dentist training (or qualified before foundation training became compulsory).
* Or evidence of adequate current clinical experience (UK or overseas) to practice independently.
Registration & Memberships
* Full, unconditionally registered with the General Dental Council – provide registration number and details of any restrictions.
* Valid membership with the relevant professional body required prior to application.

Experience
* Minimum of 2 clinical sessions per week over the last 15 months to evidence clinical currency.
* Background in military dentistry and primary dental care.
* Valid UK driving licence.
* Evidence of GDC CPD completion.
* Prepared to contribute to staff development and utilisation of IT.
* Willingness to cover on‑call duties as part of a regional team.

Successful candidates must meet the security check (security level required) and undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

Salary: £60,188 to £99,410 per year (pro‑rata for part‑time).
