Duties and responsibilities related to the Junior Sous Chef position:

1. Kitchen Supervision: Assist in leading and coordinating kitchen staff, ensuring smooth operations across your assigned section and supporting a positive, high-performing team culture.

2. Menu Execution & Quality Control: Prepare and oversee dishes to ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and timing, while contributing to seasonal menu updates and innovation.

3. Inventory & Cost Awareness: Support stock control, supplier coordination, and waste reduction efforts to help manage food costs and maintain efficiency.

4. Training & Development: Mentor and support Commis and Demi Chefs, encouraging skill development and fostering a collaborative kitchen environment.

5. Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety in line with HACCP and local regulations, ensuring a clean and safe kitchen environment.

6. Service Support & Problem Solving: Step in during busy service periods or challenges, making quick decisions to maintain quality and service standards.

7. Collaboration with Senior Team: Work closely with the Sous and Head Chefs on menu planning, daily specials, and operational improvements.

About you

8. Proven experience as a Senior Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef in a high-end hotel or restaurant environment

9. Strong understanding of food safety regulations and HACCP compliance

10. Ability to lead a section and support junior team members

11. Commitment to quality, consistency, and presentation standards

Experience Preferred

12. Formal culinary training or diploma

13. Experience in a luxury hotel or fine dining setting

14. Familiarity with UK hospitality standards and local compliance (e.g., Food Hygiene Rating Scheme)

15. Exposure to menu development and seasonal planning
