Chartered Valuation Surveyor – Role Overview
As a Chartered Valuation Surveyor, your responsibilities will include valuations, negotiations, and providing property-related advice. You will manage large caseloads, conduct site inspections, oversee quality assurance, and represent the VOA at tribunals.
You may be posted in various areas across the agency, including the National Valuation Unit (NVU), Regional Valuation Unit (RVU), Chief Valuer Group (CVG), Council Tax (CT), and District Valuer Services (DVS), which operates in the commercial sector. Key Responsibilities
* Providing technical valuation and property advice to clients, managing caseloads effectively, and delivering quality work.
* Identifying, escalating, mitigating, or managing risks and issues.
* Supporting local and national taxation through property valuation advice.
* Representing the agency at Valuation Tribunals and potentially at Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber).
* Acting as Lead Valuer, providing technical guidance to colleagues.
* Marketing sector-specific services and maintaining client relationships.
* Providing quotes, recording time accurately for billing, and managing case delivery.
* Supporting trainee surveyors and overseeing their APC journey and coaching peers.
