Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council’s Health and Wellbeing Team are looking to recruit a highly motivated and passionate individual to work as a Health and Wellbeing Coach.

About the role: As a Health and Wellbeing Coach, no two days are the same…your role aims to reduce inactivity, promote healthy weight and improve mental health & wellbeing whilst supporting people to lead a healthier lifestyle.
Some days will involve the planning and delivery of safe, effective physical activity/group exercise and cycling interventions across the whole life course in a range of community venues. Some of this may include working with specific groups including early years, pre/postnatal, older adults, BAME groups and adults with learning disabilities & autism within the most deprived areas of borough.
On other days, you may deliver group and/or one-to-one health coaching sessions to support health improvement. This could include areas such as weight management, increasing physical activity levels, or improving sleep, with the aim of enabling sustainable lifestyle behaviour to change through a person-centred approach. This may involve working with individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or those from disadvantaged communities, where access to healthy food and other health-promoting resources may be limited.
About you
Here are some of the skills, knowledge, and abilities that we are looking for in our role as a Health and Wellbeing Coach.
* Experience in delivering physical activity (either paid or voluntary), with the ability to travel to venues across the borough to fulfil service delivery (including transportation of equipment).
* Qualifications or experience working in group exercise delivery, cycle/balance bike training, walks leader, health coaching and/or weight management.
* The confidence to provide personalised 121 and group coaching support that enables behaviour change.
* You need to be reliable, approachable, flexible and have excellent communication skills. The ability to speak community languages is preferable.
* Occasional evening or weekend working will be required to meet the needs of the service.
* You must enjoy being part of a team; yet possess the personal management skills to work alone.
* The ability to use computers to maintain records and enter data on our web-based client management systems.
* You will need to be highly organised, motivated and resilient.
