We are seeking a motivated and organised Prescriptions Coordinator to join our friendly general practice team. You will work as part of a prescriptions team. This is a key administrative role responsible for managing repeat prescription requests and acting as the main point of contact for patients with medication queries.
The successful candidate will work closely with GPs, the pharmacy team, and administrative staff to ensure prescriptions are processed safely, efficiently, and in line with practice protocols.
Main duties of the job
* Process repeat prescription requests via telephone, online systems, and in person
* Act as the first point of contact for patient prescription queries
* Ensure prescriptions are issued accurately and within agreed timeframes
* Liaise with GPs, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals
* Manage prescription workflows using the clinical system (e.g. EMIS)
* Respond to medication queries and signpost patients appropriately
* Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with prescribing policies
* Support the wider administrative team as required

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good standard of education (GCSE or equivalent, including English and Maths)
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure
* Good IT skills and confidence using computer systems
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Previous experience in a GP practice, pharmacy, or healthcare setting
* Experience using clinical systems such as EMIS or SystmOne
* Understanding of repeat prescribing processes
* Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection
