Job Summary
In order to facilitate and support the development of the Theatre service, the Department is seeking a role to manage sterile trauma implants in the Department and release qualified theatre staff time in order to concentrate upon patient care. The Trauma team are seeking a current Theatre Healthcare Assistant to undertake the role of a Trauma Store Healthcare Assistant. The aim of the role is to support the ordering, receipt and stock management of the orthopaedic implants and pharmacy within the Department, whilst maintaining a clinical role.
Responsibilities
* Actively participate as a member of the theatre team and be responsible for contributing to the efficiency of the department.
* Maintain and organise T&O supplies within the Theatre department.
* Coordinate the ordering, receipt, stock distribution and storage of specialist T&O supplies.
* Monitor stock usage to ensure a cost‑effective service.
* Ensure all supplies are stored appropriately, maintaining sterility and in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
* Implement an effective system for stock rotation and monitor expiry dates.
* Keep accurate accounts of stock delivery against delivery notes.
* Anticipate and predict usage of stock and act promptly to rectify shortfalls.
* Respond effectively to urgent requests for stock.
* Undertake stock takes in collaboration with Logistics and Company representatives.
* Maintain accurate records of all stock and non‑stock orders using manual and computer systems (IP Procurement and Oracle).
* Handle enquiries and queries regarding electronic purchasing (iproc).
* Manage the ordering, storage and distribution of pharmacy stock and x‑ray badges to the Trauma Team.
* Liaise with procurement and company representatives to track orders, ensure timely delivery and identify discrepancies.
* Teach a member of staff to deputise during periods of leave or absence.
* Ensure maintenance of good relations with all disciplines of Theatre and Store staff within the Trust.
* Process non‑stock requisition orders for T&O Loan kits in a timely manner under the supervision of the T&O Coordinator.
Qualifications
Essential
* Computer literacy with a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Able to effectively organise self and adapt to changing workloads.
* Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues.
* Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles (as appropriate to role).
Desirable
* Experience with implementation of change.
* Experience of stores/stock management.
* Experience of working in an operating theatre environment.
